Whilst working as a Junior Graphic Designer at Quantum I was able to develop my skills a lot, learning from the design team around me. I have great interpersonal skills so love working as part of a team. Working with high profile clients mostly in the drinks industry, I became proficient and very confident at using the Adobe suite and other programs to bring to life ideas and concepts for brands. Though I am keen to continue learning in order to progress and exceed in my job role. Working in an agency meant I had to work within strict time schedules and often with fast turn arounds, meaning I have excellence time management skills and am always willing to go overboard to put the client first.
As a Freelance Designer I was been able to refine and develop the skills learnt at university in a professional environment. I learnt client handling and communication skills so that, as well as creating outcomes that fit the users needs; I can work towards the client budget and within the brand guidelines to ensure consistency across all their material. My freelance work involved a range of printed and digital projects; creating advertisement material, templates for professional documents, rebranding business identities and designing websites.
Throughout my time at University of Reading, I was able to develop a strong skill set in a huge range of areas of design from UX design, animation, and editorial design. I wrote my dissertation on vegan food packaging design and how it is different to others to stand out from the crowd and this is something that continues to interest me. My degree had a strong focus on typographic theory, the knowledge from this I have taken forward and found very useful in my professional experience.
